Album Notes
Vocalist Simone Wensink, and singer, songwriter, guitarist Roy Pace formed an acoustic duo in Austin, Texas in the late 1990’s. They played local coffeehouses and open mics in the Austin area, and drew rave responses. Seeking to find other musicians to fill out Roy Pace’s compositions, they added Richard Mattingly on guitar, Ed Devera on bass, Joe Stack on keyboards, and Rob Cooley on drums. The result is Last Straw, an Austin-based sextet that is an eclectic band, blending elements of blues, rock, jazz and contemporary folk. Their first release entitled “Over the Edge” promises to bring the listener an uncompromised blend of soulful, heartfelt songs. In songwriter Roy Pace’s own words, “you don’t got a song, you ain’t got much.” There are a few songs on here we’re sure you’ll enjoy. Relax and listen. Jump if you want to.
