Last Winter was formed in November 2002. Drawing on influences from early 90's alternative and today's rock music, the band originated their own brand of rock with atmospheric ambience or as we like to call it "space rock"!
Founding members Chris and Josh endured many lineup changes during the birth of Last Winter. They met Cameron searching the internet for a bassist, and Josh was introduced to Brian (Fro) through a mutual childhood friend. Originally a seven-piece band with 2 vocalists and a keyboardist with Cameron on bass, the band struggled to find an agreeable sound and parted ways with both vocalists and keyboardist and the search for a singer was on. Numerous auditions were held with no promising talent over a period of 3 months. Still, without a vocalist, the band agreed on Cameron taking over the vocalist position.
After a year and a half of practicing, the band recorded a self-produced, full-length album and began to book shows. While happy with their accomplishments something was still missing. The band decided to add yet another member to free Cameron of his bass playing responsibilities so he could completely focus on vocals. John Powell was introduced to the band by a friend and after one audition was asked to join.
During 2004 and 2005 Last Winter has played at well-known venues such as The Hard Rock Live, The House of Blues, and The Social, as well as The 2004 Cornerstone Festival, and The Axis Magazine 2005 Florida Music Festival and Conference. The band has shared the stage with well-known acts such as P.O.D, Blindside, Switchfoot, Everclear and Lit.
Since the start of 2005 Last Winter signed a Recording/Management deal with New York based Iluminatti Entertainment and has a new recording (Transmission: Skyline) released by the label. It is now available online.

it was funny how getting this cd came about. my sister had the song "chasing lights" on a mix made from my other sister but did not have the song name or artist written on it. so we all were in the car listening to the mix, and the song came on and our mission that day was to find out who sang it. so when we figured it out, i had to get the cd. and of course it being an independent band i had to come to CD Baby.com and buy this cd. and this cd is AWESOME! you guys did a wonderful job shipping it out to me in mint condition. you guys rock! keep up the good work. :D

Amazing melodic atmospheric first effort!

The manner through which I learned about this band is a bit embarrassing. There were a couple songs I heard on MTV's Laguna Beach (yes I am probably dumber for watching that show) that I wanted to find out more about. Funnily enough two of the former Blink182 boy and current Plus 44! members, Mark and Travis, are responsible for a lot of the music choices on Laguna Beach. Well one of the bands I discovered was a band by the name of Last Winter, a relatively undiscovered, absolute gem of a band. Their music could be described loosely as "space-rock"; highly melodic atmospheric emotional sounding music. The CD Transmission Skyline starts off with a highly delayed, echoed guitar riff on the song "Girl Next Door" that instantly describes the sonic texture at work throughout the entire album even though that specific song is only available on the Japanese import. This song like a number of the songs focuses on love not realized:
"Just say you love me, just say you love me. I'll always b

This cd is actually really great. I heard about them from Pure Volume as well. Downloaded the 2 songs that were available. (Chasing Lights, and Standing Here) and immediately fell in love. I'd recommend this cd to anybody. Wasn't sure what to expect having only heard the 2 songs, but this was definitely worth the order. :) Now if only they'd come to Edmonton
