Where funk, Neo-soul and R&B collide, you'll find passionate songwriter lyricist LaTanya Lockett leading her seven member posse in search of the eternal note.

Often guesting on-stage locally with and in recordings of various artists such as B-Side Players, The Revelations, Psydecar, and Inside Straight,LaTanya began her own project in 2001.

Now taking the San Diego music scene with a powerful vengence that breathes new life into an endlessly overexploited art, LaTanya's driving soulful grooves reinforce the old adage that there will be "no parking on the dance floor."

After touring throughout the Southwest, including California, Arizona and Nevada, LaTanya Lockett has taken her vision to the recording studio and recorded her first Solo CD.

To get an idea of LaTanya's unique and versatile vocal abilities, check out the new release "In the City" and these others the B-Side Players CD "Movement" (2001), where she is featured on three songs; Inside Straight's self titled CD(2000) and Psydecar's CD "On A Wing" (1999).

    I can't get this album out of my head--and that's a good thing. Each song is memorable from the first track to the last. Like Jill Scott, LaTonya Lockett is real without being overbearing and has a voice like an angel. This album is a keeper and I hope Ms. Lockett will receive the accolades her talents so richly deserve.

    When I first listened to this cd all the way through, I felt it was just another generic "nu-soul" album, without it's own character. I was mistaken. On every listen, it just gets deeper and there are a lot of original touches (particularly with the rhythms) which definitely set it apart from the crowd. Each song is distinctive and could hold its own in comparisons with some of the leaders of the nu-soul pack (Jill, India, Grenique). Particular favourites are the gritty funk of "Round & Round" and the sweet soul of "Baby James", but every track is worthwhile. Hope she'll make it to London soon, so I can see this music in its full glory.

    LaTanya deserves much praise and so does every member of the band. Listen to the intriguing voice but don't forget to notice the great guitar licks, the drum patterns, etc. etc. All in all, a very inspiring CD. If LaTanya's next album gets a little more help from a producer I'll certainly buy it and so should the masses!

    A seductive fusion of Soul and R&B. Impressive vocal arangements and musical melodies. No need to skip around on this CD, I listened to it begining to end! Definitely pick this cd up.
