Album Notes

From Peter Merrett of PBS-FM, Melbourne, Australia:

Dear Sean,
My name is Peter Merrett and l am the music manager for radio station PBS FM Melbourne Australia. We have just received through Radiodirectx your absolutely incredible cd "The Forgotten Door". Certainly will be popular around here, Passionate Rock is definitely part we do the best. I was blown away by your cd, great to hear music dripping with passion and consistancey from start to finish, all very strong tracks indeed . You have a sound that is engaging mesmerizing, haunting and holds you with it's story and composition. Not pretentious just music, exactly what we want for our listeners..

From John Carver of PBS-FM Melbourne, Australia:

Sean,

Recently I requested your album via DirectX. It arrived and I put in a box where I put all new releases I receive. Stupidly it stayed there for a couple of weeks without a listen.

I’m sitting listening to it at the movement and wanted to tell you the album is a winner! The following paragraph is written for publication if you want to.

Sean Lathrop has an undefinable quality, a kind of purity, a kind of melancholy friendship. The songs are wonderful, the licks are incredibly addictive and the production is perfection. I felt like I had heard every song before, although I hadn’t. This is an album that will last for years. It’s one of those wonderful surprises.

I’ll be playing the album on Saturday 17 February between 1 and 3.00 pm Australian Eastern Summer Time, whatever that means in your time. Or you can download the show via our website’s Radio On Demand.

Thanks for the CD. I hope I do it justice!

Keep up the wonderful work!

John Carver

The roots and blues of singer songwriters

From Jan Nederveen, Netherlands Radio 794:

“ I'm very glad, that Sean Lathrop is discovered and that not alone in the streets of New York and other places. The opening track "Forgotten door" is a good song. Everytime you play the song it will stay like a new song for you. But also the other songs. The intro of "Monument in Stone" is an intro like the Everly Brothers could do. But further on it is a song by Sean. But that old feeling of the fifties comes into you. The song "Amalina" has a beautiful intro. You won't forget that. I play the next track this evening in my program " Francesco is Calling". Beautiful the repeating of the couplets. It goes up and down in a certain way. When you listen your mind will be empty and that is the only thing that you can do: Listen to this special song.”

From Rory Burke of CORKS 103FM Ireland

“GOOD PRODUCTION ON THE RECORDING. SEAN IS A GREAT TALENT,WITH A BRIGHT FUTURE,GREAT CD.”

From Gi Dussault of the Upper Room Radio Show:

“Great singer and also very good music. No excuse to not have this CD right now on your CD player. Buy it you will not be disappointed at all.” Gi Dussault Upper Room Radio Show www.upperroomwithjoekelley.com www.myspace.com/upperroomwithjoekelley

Solid Indeed!

I must admit after listening to the album a couple of times I knew I liked 2 or 3 songs, but was undecided about the rest of it. The next day I was driving and certain riffs and lyrics kept popping into my head. It took me awhile to figure out they were from the Forgotten Door and I could not wait to get home to match the riffs with lyrics. Now, after listening to the album several times, I am a big fan. In my opinion, it would not be fair to simply call this a good "first" album. It is a solid album period!
