Conceived in a bedroom near the shores of Eastport sailors, 'How We Survived' is the latest musical child of singer/songwriter Laura Brino. Filled with dynamic sounds (including the squeaking chair of her recording studio), the album showcases Brino's breathy and intimate voice as it's nestled between the tinkling piano and dreamy echoes of her guitar. With the exception of two songs (How We Survived and My Only), all of the songs on the album were written, performed, mixed and produced by Brino. The songs waver between odes to new lovers and confessions to ones that were lost. The lyrics are smart, comparing letting go to garage sales and the burning down of one's house. "With my fingers shaking, I decided to light the match. Our history in the making...you laugh, because we couldn't last...."
