Yoga Nidra, or conscious sleep, is a transformative practice that is equivalent to four hours of regular, unconscious sleep. Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, not only for the physical body, but also for the deeper emotional and mental layers of being; it works at the root of stresses, allowing the release of subconscious tensions and tendencies that inhibit us from living to our full potential. Yoga Nidra is appropriate for those who are over-worked and under-rested or anyone who simply craves more relaxation and stillness in life. Yoga Nidra may also bring relief to those living with stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain or physical and/or emotional trauma.

Yoga Nidra: The Art of Relaxation CD includes 2 meditations led by South Lake Tahoe based teacher Laura DeFreitas. The first is an abbreviated 20-minute practice ideal for the workplace or just before bed. The second is a 50-minute meditation that explores the wealth of Yoga Nidra’s teachings. Each track includes an introduction to Yoga Nidra and instructions for the practice. This CD is designed for both new and seasoned practitioners. The teachings offered are broad enough for long-term use yet allows the practitioner to work with the physical, mental and emotional sensations present during each session.

Laura began her study and practice Yoga Nidra in 2005. In 2007 & 2008 she completed the Level 1 & Level 2 Yoga Nidra Teacher Training with master Richard Miller. Her classes invite students to welcome the fullness of each moment just as it is and to trust the innate intelligence of their being.
