Album Notes

Laura Lisbeth's smooth, silky voice is the perfect complement to this gifted lyricist's songs, covering topics that explore the far reaches of the heart and the search for meaning in everyday life. With her warm and inviting vocals drawing you in like a trusted friend, she combines poignant lyrics and moving melodies to weave stories that touch on the beauty and sadness of the human experience.

Chris Spector of Midwest Record says of Laura's music: "With an easy and smart way around an original song, Lisbeth delivers the pensive without the maudlin and the whining…the future of the singer/songwriter genre, no matter how the gene mutates, is in good hands.”

Three of Laura's songs have been chosen as winners : McCallister Road, Southernmost Point, and The Number, selected as 3rd Place Winner in the American Songwriter Magazine's lyric contest for September/October 2008.

Laura was recently selected to participate in the Kacico Dance (www.kacicodance.org)Company's Song and Dance Project for 2009: The Song and Dance Project is a captivating performance of live song and dance featuring KC Singer/Songwriters with Kacico Dance.

Laura performs regularly in the Kansas City area, and is host of her own songwriter showcase. Her beautiful vocals and intimate delivery of a song make her a frequent choice for performance at art shows, poetry readings and festivals, including the Mid-American Music Festival, Parkville Riverfest, Lexington Peach Festival, Watkins Woolen Mill Fall Fest and Back Porch Jam, and the Parkville Acoustic Festival.

LAURA LISBETH
LAURA LISBETH/Hit the Ground Running: From the heartland she came, a neo-folkie that knows how to follow the contemporary folk tradition and will probably go a long way toward making people forget about her sisters of the 90's. With an easy and smart way around an original song, Lizbeth delivers the pensive without the maudlin and the whining. Already proven by her peers to be an up and comer with some award notice under her belt, the future of the singer/songwriter genre, no matter how the gene mutates, is in good hands.

COMMENTS FROM ERIK KARLSSON, SINGER/SONGWRITER:
“I'm sitting here listening to the new CD released by Laura Lisbeth. Do yourself a favor (I MEAN this...) and get it. If you've ever heard Laura play, you already know she is a wonderfully gifted songwriter. But she's upped the ante by hooking up with Steve Phillips at Big Time Productions here in Kansas City and they've produced a CD that is stunning in its lush sound that perfectly captures the way these songs needed to be presented. Too many times this kind of music is either over or under-produced. Not on this CD - it is perfect song after song. This has become an instant heavy-rotation CD in my collection...”

Laura Lisbeth is extremely careful and crafty with her lyrics. There is always more being said than just what is on the surface. One of the best lyricists I have heard. Her musical arrangements and song structure are very solid. She is a joy to listen to. Especially live! Nice job Laura!

Encore!

Review of Laura Lisbeth’s debut CD, Hit the Ground Running. Laura Lisbeth’s debut CD, Hit the Ground Running, brings us a new voice, distinctive melodies and some great songs. The acoustic arrangements which feature mandolin and a mild touch of electric guitar leave room for her expressive vocals. What sets this CD apart for me are the two outstanding songs, “Lifeline” and “Lawn Chairs.” Encore. - David B. Hakan, The Songwriters Circle of Kansas City
