Album Notes

Inspired by Dan Brown's novel, The Da Vinci Code, and its theme of the lost feminine, Laura selected a collection of favorite songs as well as incorporating new material to be a musical companion to the novel. This musical exploration of themes from the Da Vinci Code relate to the characters and storyline of the novel--for those who have read the novel Powers hopes the songs will add an additional dimension to the characters. Watch for the release of the major film directed by Ron Howard slated for May 2006.

Songs include "Rose Line Canon", "Opus Dei" and "The Mystic and the Muse." Of note, the song "Shine Love," dedicated to the novel's character Silas, has been used in an award-winning PBS television ad campaign.

FYI, Code of the Goddess is not authorized by Dan Brown or his publishers, though we'd like to take that call.

"Powers employs images of the divine feminine to guide listeners. Her Celtic-inspired sound is reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt and will appeal to die-hard New Agers as well as people plugged into current mainstream music. Code of the Goddess is an excellent choice!"-reviewer Mara Applebaum, New Age Retailer.

Hi Laura, Remember that I interviewed you on my Radio Show "Finding Your Music" in 2006. I am listening to your album again tonight. I listen to it frequently and every time I listen I think how lucky I was to have met you. The talent that you have, the depth that comes through your music. You are truly a Goddess by your own right; I am grateful that I discovered your music. Keep playing... I hope someday to hook up again and be able to play together. xxoo Ava

To use one of this talented and prolific BMI songwriter's song titles.."Now I Know Where Dreams Come From." One of the purest voices I've ever heard. This is one of those gems you'll crank up loud, put on "repeat" and never let it stop. Art becomes music. Music becomes art.
