notes
Funky and fierce, the Laura Thomas Band is a New York group with a sound like no one else in the industry. The LTB combines the power of rock and funk with probing lyrics and emotional songwritng. Textured by a fiery violin and a multi-layered guitar, the band is led by Laura's powerhouse vocals. Laura sings with Ani Difranco's tell-it-like-it-is defiance, Alanis Morissette's sheer, clear power, the sultriness of Norah Jones. The result is an audio-shock of emotional truth.
"Step to the Wire," Laura's third album, contains tracks dealing with everything from politics and social injustice to lost love. The album's title comes from the hard-hitting ballad, "Blind Trinity," a searing indictment of the Bush administration's foreign policy. Overall, the album gives its listener an unforgettable and emotionally charged experience.

Singer with Soul and Passion
author: D YehLuv the CD. Followed her from her days playing in clubs in NY to now. Her best work yet-- songs with real soul, passion, and intelligence.
Laura Thomas is speechlessly awesome!
author: Allyn BoucherThis girl is an incredible artist, and Step to the Wire is her best CD yet. Her delivery is flawless, her lyrics intelligent, enticing, and truly clever, and her voice powerful and rich, to complete her talented writing. Step to the Wire ranges from a poignant statement on the Bush administration's foreign policy (Blind Trinity) to a beautifully crafted song of complicated, heartfelt love (I Will You). If you aren't moved by Step to the Wire, then you need a reality check!

The vocals are professional and I love the instrumentation. LT has a funky soulful power that's easily acredited to her southern upbringing. When this woman rocks, she ROCKS! The lyrics are beautiful and the band leaves you satisfied and wondering where they'll go next. Keep rockin' LTB, there is a lot of talent here!
