Album Notes

'Lauren's lyrics are so cinematic in scope that listening to her record is practically a visual experience, wordplay reminiscent of writers like Elvis Costello and Cole Porter. With memorable melodies, a big, expressive voice, a big presence of piano and a smokin' band, this disc offers much warmth and humanity.' -- Mark Mandelbaum, Anatomically Correct Music

'Brilliant' -- New York Times

'Dynamic ... Versatile ... Hilarious' -- Village Voice

Lauren Cregor's inimitable mix of deep musicality and electric personality has been lighting up the NYC music scene for over three years. A natural storyteller, she hooks the imagination with vivid lyrics, infectious melodies, and a soulful voice.

Her second album, No Time For Shy, was released in May 2004 and debuted at the time-honored club FEZ in NYC. It contains nine tracks of Lauren's signature jazz-pop style. 'Listen to ...Shy on headphones, and you'll swear she rooted around your own head for inspiration. From the soulful expression of familial love to finally telling off your ex, she manages to say all the things you wish you could have.' (A. Hamilton-Lowe, WFUV-FM)

In July of 2005, she and her band showcased at the Midwest Music Summit to a more-than-sold-out crowd. Her music can also be heard on WFUV (wfuv.org). In addition, she collaborates with NYC dance company SYREN (www.syrendance.org) and theatre company Waterwell (www.waterwell.org).

On stage, she is joined by NYC jazz bassist Arthur Kell, drummer Jeff Devine, tenor saxophonist Andrew Zimmerman, and producer/guitarist Alex Weinstein of Ten Good Records (www.tengoodrecords.com).
