Masterpiece Surprise
author: Ron Holcomb
Five stars all the way – and what a pleasant surprise! After all these years Laurice has surfaced again with the Mighty Mouth album Dance Dance Dance containing all his dance hits with the original full-length disco versions. I’d worn out my Disco Spaceship and We Will Make Love – the French Version- vinyl dance singles long ago. How exciting to hear the Spanish Version of We Will Make Love, (which I’d never listened to). And it's grea to again hear the instrumental version of Disco Spaceship. I already have the fabulously sexy Hotline vinyl dance album snagged on a visit to California with the absolutely outrageous cover, but I’d never heard the beauty of Love’s Sweet Symphony and the rocking enthusiasm of Rock Me Thru The Night and Oceans of Love before. Laurice was a great singer and songwriter, and obviously should have had a lot more success than he had. I remember he was Canada’s number one male dance singer some time ago. I have heard that he is re-releasing his Echoes smooth jazz album and wants to pursue both dance and smooth jazz formats in the future. I hope he does, because these tracks are gems, and have been hidden for far too long. Dance Dance Dance is a terrific retro-disco party album. It really makes me feel good, and every track is up-tempo. This will be a mainstay on my ipod for years to come in my car and in my home. Fantastic!
