Lauri Preston and Regina Reid have been one of the Washington, D.C. area's most beloved duos since 1994. Known today simply as Lauri & Regina, these two young women have committed themselves to developing the musical gifts God has placed within them.

From within the mix of contemporary Christian, jazz and pop, Lauri & Regina emerge. Their blend is a trademark, as is their innovative style and sound. Whether an original composition or a fresh look at the familiar, their arrangements are lilting gems of inspired artistry.

"Neither of us can take the ultimate credit for what is created between us," they say. "We know it is only the Holy Spirit humming and whispering ideas to us."

Their ministry has taken them to many churches of many faiths. They have traveled to churches throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as to neighboring states such as Virginia and Pennsylvania. They are frequent contributors to worship services, concerts, fund-raisers and retreats.

Long before they met, Lauri & Regina were being primed for their union. Each was a consistent standout in high school and college, being featured soloists in various groups and choirs.

Lauri & Regina's debut CD, "Our Praise," while difficult to categorize, has been lauded as a smooth and refreshing alternative to traditional gospel.

Individually, they continue to develop their own musical specialties and remain highly sought-after vocalists. During a brief hiatus from their collaborative ministry, Regina joined with her brother, a pianist and songwriter, to produce an album which was released in January 2002 (The Reid Project is also available at CDBaby). Lauri, who has appeared on other artists' recordings, has begun work on a solo project (release date to be announced).

While music is their passion, Lauri & Regina each pursue professional careers. Lauri holds a Masters' degree in clinical social work from Howard University and works as a psychotherapist. Regina is a communications graduate of Oakwood College and an associate editor for a voluntary health organization. Both plan to continue using their musical gifts for as long as God enables them.
