Lava Engine has quickly maintained a solid fanbase with its mixture of progressive rock, as well as modern emo-cultured metal but also the old 70's symphonic rock way of thinking. You can even find a glimpse of singer/songwriter music within, with lots of vocals based sections.
With a homebase in Jönköping and Gothenburg (Sweden) line-ups have come and gone but today is the solid band complete as it feels. Members of today fit together, and all have the energy and will to bring this musical pantomime forward and most recent this happaned with the release of the 2008 Ep. A 4-tracker but with a playtime of nearly half an hour.
Fans of bands such as Porcupine Tree, Muse, Pain of Salvation, Spock's Beard, Evergrey and much should find an interest in this musical escapade.
Magnus Florin - Vocals / Guitars
Ronnie Jaldemark - Gutiars / Vocals
Mick Nordström - Drums / Vocals

Amazing!
author: Rick Rosinski
From the above named bands, I sense most similarity to Porcupine Tree and Pain of Salvation. I also hear a bit of Katatonia, Opeth, Queensryche and Superior.
Regardless of the comparisons, this is one excellent EP. It leaves you beggging for more. I like the shifts from light, acoustic music to prog rock to prog metal to all-out metal headbanging. This is none more evident than the final opus, "Blood".
The vocals go from subtle, with a slight accent, to spoken, to ferocious. Don't let that scare you too much, however, as it's all good.
My highest recommendation. RUN, don't walk and order this CD right away.
