Into the Flow

by Lava Pups

Our debut album features eight original tracks which capture the energy and fun of surf and rock instrumental music. They take the listener back to a simpler time when bands picked up instruments and played lo-fi garage rock for fun.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
4 stars/4 stars review from New Gandy Dancer: ". . . this is the sound we like! Crystal clear, sixties style playing on stuff we haven't heard before. Bit of Ventures, bit of surf but in a flow of their own. Well performed and written (did I say all originals?), the best track of which is "Link Man" a rousing 12 bar delivered with panache."

5 stars/5 stars from Bernard Boyat.

Phil Dirt (Reverb Central) gave 4 stars to "Pacifica Blue" and "Lava Tube."

The Lava Pups is a collaborative effort created out of our love for surf and rock instrumental music and desire to have fun.  Our debut CD shows the influences of Dick Dale, Link Wray, Duane Eddy and Paul Johnson. The songs range from in-your-face double-picked, glissando-ladened garage surf like "Sea Witch" to the sweetly dissonant ballad "Pacifica Blue."

Cowabunga!
On my first listening to this album I was immediately hurled back in time to the beaches of Southern California and the early 60's world of Dick Dale, Jan & Dean, and the Ventures. The Lava Pups have captured an era with their music that trancends time. Long live surf music! Surf's up, gotta go...

Fun!!! This brings back the great feelings of instrumental 60's SURF. I can hardly wait to play this at out next BBQ and pool party.

Lava Pups - Into The Flow

Pacifica Blue 4 stars

Gentle island chords and imagery flow from this soothing number. "Pacifica Blue" provides a lovely view of clear and placid waters on a summer afternoon. Very easy to like.

Lava Tube 4 stars

"Lava Tube" is among the most engaging tracks here, with a fine melody, dribbling double picked lines, chunky rhythm, and an endearing sound. A bit sad, but still playful.
