Album Notes

She saw him slapping the crap out of his acoustic guitar at a speakeasy in the sky. He watched her play smokin' hot bass licks with the upscale infamous. "I like your go-go boots," he said. "You're tuned down to 'C'" she said, "that's slinky."

So songwriter Charles, (he sounds like Dave Matthews Band & Johnny Cash), hooked up with funk bassist Christine. Check out their groovey, swampy funk.

"That's Why" is an EP of groove-a-licious string spankin' jams of hope & heartache. Fronted by the intense vocals of modern Americana songwriter/guitarist Charles Law, backed by the Christine on 4 & 5 string Bass, and a variety of percussionists and guest appearances by Jimi Christi. Not to mention Brad Buley, percussionist extraordinaire.

Charles Law and his band Jagged puts freedom, dance and fun into any club or party. Their energetic stage performance delivers percussive textures, swampy licks and soulful lyrics over deep funk bass and danceable upbeats.

CHARLES LAW - Guitars and Vocals
At 13 years old, Charles would sneak into his neighbor's house to play guitar. Charles received his own guitar after agreeing to play Johnny Cash songs for his family. By 15 years of age, Charles was playing latin-style jams with the Latino 13th Street boys in Santa Paula, California. Charles is an accomplished singer/songwriter and an exciting acoustic guitar performer. In addition to the reputation for his intense vocals, guitar slapping technique and screaming electric guitar leads in his former rock band "Zero Discipline," Charles also plays a variety of stringed and percussive instruments.

CHRISTINE- Bass
Christine has been a bassist on the Southern California scene with the famous and the obscure. She toured with Martha Davis of The Motels for 3 years performing The Motel's hits "Only The Lonely" and "Suddenly Last Summer" and appeared on MTV playing Martha's new song "Miss Lonely Hearts." Christine's song "Imagine That," with her hardcore band "Tantrum," was in regular rotation for six months on KSBX radio. She has collaborated with Mario Calire (Wallflowers), Theo Mordey (Jesus Christ Superstar), Kevin McCormick (Donna Summers). Christine has also played with Aspen transplants Suzanne Paris, David Holster, Cassandra Denver (John Denver) and Jonathan McCuen.
