Album Notes

Giving a morbid breath into the incarnate of thrash metal having formed in the late summer of 2005 in Wisconsin, Lazarus arises and brings resurrection to its style in a music scene of mediocrity. A unique complexity, in raging tempos that surpass all limits known to those of sound and light, comes to be complete as in unison as if a machine compsed and performed them itself. Thus engraving a memory like scar that leaves all of Lazarus listeners humming the toughest of riffs. Upon completing thier self produced demo in early 2006, Lazarus rapidly obtained an unfailing fan base while touring the midwest and opening up for major actus such as Anthrax, Monstrosity, and Switched. Achieving the highest of appraise, this four piece crusade mutates thier stages and venues into a battlefield in which long hair, shredding, and breakdowns always reign upon the bloodshed of mosh-pits. In early 2007 Lazarus entered the studio to record their debut full length cd "The Onslaught" with Chris Djuricic of Studio One. Mastering duties were held by none other than Testament/Death guitarist James Murphy. Lazarus plans to conquer more and more ground by supporting the cd for the months to come.

REVIEWS

Incredibly promising and a great discovery
author: Seth Richtsmeier
Why is their Wisconsin heritage surprising? Because these guys sound like they're from southern California or even Europe, two historical locales for the genre. And everyone is aware the Swedes are metal aficionados, let's not forget. But can four badger gentlemen make it in the scene? If The Onslaught is any representation, absolutely they can. The first two tracks are a great start to the debut. "Last Breath" kicks off blistering and then becomes a Metallica-like song in the chug-chugging of guitars. The vocals don't even kick in until a minute and a half in, and they don't need to because the riffing does all the work. "Thou Shalt Not Fear" just screams Testament and that's all that needs to be said. It's hard to consider what the metal world would be like without those two monumental influences. The remainder of the album continues to remain powerfully aggressive with plenty of solos throughout. The pace of every song is intense; there's no time to stop to rest the ears. Lazarus A.D. are incredibly promising and are a great discovery for someone looking for fresh, innovative stuff. These guys sound like they've been at it for years. If The Onslaught is just the tip of the iceberg for what's to come, there truly will be an onslaught to come.

This album has excellent written all over it. This band is brilliant. This cd hasn't left my stereo for too long before I have to put it back in. This cd will prove thrash is coming back and in one powerful force! You'd be insane not to own this album and blast it loud.

Killer...simply killer

Heavy crunching riffs to go with some of the best metal songs ever written is the only way I can describe Kenosha's homeboys. They combine classic thrash metal with modernized thrash better than I've ever heard before. I can't wait to get a chance to see them live. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD now....before it goes out of stock again. LOL.
