Notably tasteful selection of material that is arranged and performed with skill

The Lost Boys get it, and Black Dog is the proof. Originals by John Cadley and Henry Jankiewicz side by side with traditional tunes combine to offer a notably tasteful mix. I like everything on the disc, but my two favorites are "The Hawk" and "Angeline the Baker". "The Hawk" showcases Cadley's talent for making metaphor, using commonplace situations to stand for profound, complex, and universal human feelings and quandaries--it's a catchy tune, too! And "Angeline" is a terrific example of how an old tune can be made new with a thoughtful arrangement and first-rate musicianship.
