From the opening track, a rollicking cover of Lefty Frizzell's “Shine Shave Shower,” the music is audio gold. Horton’s rich baritone still kicks like a shot of fresh moonshine, and when it blends with Longmire’s honey-sweet alto, your legs start to do things you can't quite explain. Add Barron’s steel guitar and Qirko’s electric six-string to the mix, all of it anchored by Turner’s bass and Klein’s utility work on the drums, and there’s a whole lot of toe-tapping and foot-shuffling going on. By the time the Western swing send-up of Hank Williams’ “Moanin’ the Blues” rolls around, you’re ready to grab the nearest partner and make like a cowboy stretching his legs in a Wyoming watering hole after a long ride on the trail.

Listen to it and you'll be howling too.

The song choices on this CD are pure and simple. The driving pulse of the drummer keeps the group cookin' and the vocals, whether they're smooth or rocking, unwind like the white line of a midnight road. Down home contagious joy makes the Lonesome Coyotes a Knoxville treasure. Buy it!
