Album Notes

Larry Carroll was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in nearby Hueytown home of racing legend Davy Allison and way station for future folkie Emmylou Harris. Larry grew up to believe despite humble beginnings that anything is possible.

The desire to play music came at an early age - and was realized sitting before his mother's RCA stereo, (which is still is among his cherished possessions) Larry imitated 50's crooners as well as country music legend Hank Williams Sr. and with out question the Beatles. After which joining a band felt like. A natural first step, Cobra Lane (1978) was a key influence to his formalities years and provided him with the starting point from where he could fulfill his life long dreams of global rock & roll domination. Provided a successful name change was in the immediate future.

After being accepted and attending the Art College at Jacksonville State University. (The late night curriculum included rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, and challenging the original members of the Nighthawks to a pool game (Alabama Rules) and surviving). Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1980) in an attempt to gain meaningful employment, and to search the world for the savage soul, (A La Paul Gaugain). Larry was stationed in San Diego, California from where he visited many ports of call, and was again galvanized with the sound of Global, Latin, and Reggae rhythms.

Continuing in the path laid down by such 60's groups as the Loving Spoonful and The Byrds, Larry became a practitioner of classic acoustic feel good music. Hoping to revitalize this era of music, which for him had never fallen out of favor. Just such a break came with the introduction of art-rock that became popular once again with such groups as Dave Matthews Band, Collective Soul, Weezer & REM.

After accepting a job in graphic arts Larry moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he was involved in the local music scene forming a group called The Chords (1996). Playing At such notable night spots as, Decatur's Freight Room, Emory University Coffee House Cappuccino Joe's, and Borders Books in Gwinnett

Now yet again as (2001) emerges Larry is on the move with the release of Lovetown his first solo effort Larry now finds his own voice as well as a new location in the form of the emerging Inde-Rock Mecca Columbia, South Carolina, to usher in a new millennium and further musical adventure. Larry will be appearing this year at The Sundance Grill Group Therapy, Village Idiot, and Crab's In The Pot!

Excellent first effort. The mechanics of mixing could be refined but I give it 2 thumbs up because that's all the thumbs I have.
