Album Notes

The joining of two female voices produces a lot of surprises, especially when different textures, styles and languages are combined. Begoña Bang Matu and Carmen Cercos have been brewing this record in which the selection of tunes has been most disparate with the goal of shaping them under a common sound and a risky and tasteful sense of adaptation. Two different voices which achievement is to express themselves in different fields and to do it with only one voice that sings, whispers , thrills, transmits and tears us apart.

Under the production of Dwomo and the collaboration of musicians from different bands (Kruchenko, Ki Sap, Vermouth Time, The Kinky Coo coo's, Miss x, etc ...) this album has been hatched and recorded in Valencia. Adaptations of a VIOLENT FEMMES tune in a lounge-jungle key coexist with a SAM COOKE’s soul tune with touches of frontier rhythm and blues. Voices of divas such as EDITH PIAF, BJÖRK and NINA SIMONE reincarnated in a Jamaican mood through ska-swing, roots reggae dub or scorching ska-gospel respectively with a TOM WAITS classic adapted as a funk. Saucy black music with a horn section which keeps till last a peculiar bonus track…

Six covers under another vision, a proposal that has room to make use of several genres to bring forward something new to the original tunes. With a line up of guitar, piano, drums, bass, horn section and a strong presence of the voices, Las Damas y La Orquesta Invisible offer a formula in which glamour is a reality in each of the cuts of an album designed for the dancefloor. A sound trip which brings oxygen to the ear, fresh air for those lungs which breathe without prejudice and the signature tune of a nightfall among butterflies and friendly plants next to the river…

Enjoy the Glamour picnic; two voices and one heart.
