Album Notes

Finally! The long awaited 2nd CD by Scott Leader. This album features 11 new songs that will have you blasting Jewish music in your car... Oh yes!

Special guests on the CD include, Sababa! (Robbi Sherwin, Steve Brodsky and Scott Leader's new group.) Rabbi Lisa Tzur, Matt O'Desky, Danny Levin, Herb Belofsky of the Rain Ravens, and Jeff Friedl, Joel Gottschalk, and the man, Paul Anderson...

Scott Leader’s melodic approach and technical expertise have enabled him to produce music which is quickly becoming a part of the growing tradition of modern Jewish music. Scott’s debut CD, Lift My Eyes, has received excellent reviews and had sold over 2000 copies in 2 years. During the time since the CD’s release, Scott has performed concerts and led musical services at synagogues, JCCs, and summer camps across North America building a loyal fan following due to his fun, energetic, and family-friendly performances.

Scott’s Jewish musicianship and song leading gifts surfaced in high school as he was growing up in New Jersey. His popularity within the Reform Movement’s summer camps and youth groups evolved into a serious pursuit of his talents as he began college. While studying at the University of Arizona, Scott, along with friend and music partner, Billy Tiep, began to compose their own Jewish and secular music. Together with fellow composer, Robbi Sherwin, Scott and Billy began to travel and perform for Jewish communities all over the country. Since graduating in 1998, Scott has served as a teacher at the Austin Jewish Community Day School (Austin, TX), the director of Camp Isaiah (Los Angeles, CA), and as a cantorial soloist at Temple Sinai (Denver, CO).

Scott’s piano and guitar playing stands out as a presence on Robbi Sherwin’s two albums, Todah L’cehm, and, Aish HaKodesh. In addition, Scott has been featured on albums and in live performances with Sam Glaser, Craig Taubman, Yom Hadash, Mah Tovu, Noah Budin, Larry Karol and others.

Scott currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where he is producing music from his home studio.

Funny, You Don’t Sound Jewish…
author: Allison Lattman
What a sound Scott creates using the musical stylings of his generation! He’s doing for us what the Evangelicals have already done so well—bringing religion and faith to a much larger audience. Every song on this CD, from the rockin’ “Sim Shalom” (which I can’t seem to get out of my head) to the beautifully composed “The Gates,” makes it known that this up-and-coming musician is a true ruach star!

balancing energy and space for the listener's own contemplation

As a fellow songwriter and guitarist, I can say that this young guy’s a natural! His second CD adds growth/diversity on the production end, while maintaining a balance of energy and space for the listener's own contemplation. Looking forward to his uplifting return engagements to El Paso!

Yay, Scott's 2nd CD is finally here! Enjoyable tracks, some are very useable in a worship setting. The orchestration and studio production are simple, straightforward, and easy to listen to, not too busy. LOVE the guitar solos.
