Album Notes

Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, Hank Snow, George Morgan: all were my heroes when I was growing up. I saw George Morgan and Hank Snow at the Grand Ole Opry and that was one of the biggest thrills I had growing up. They all led country music in the direction of the heart. Back then you knew who the artist was after the first few notes of the song, even if it was just released. When I write my songs I try to be true to their traditions. When I write a song I feel like I have inserted my head in a river of feelings, words, and electricity. I feel the flow of the current, I hear the sounds that are in that current and try to capture the feeling as it streams by. I become like two people—one writing and one receiving those beautiful sensations as they flow around me.

For a writer, every word spoken by anyone or every phrase becomes a feeling and sometimes the feeling is so strong it becomes a song. It’s like you listen to what a person is saying with understanding and more, with feeling. It could be anything - “I saw Sally last night” - and you think, \"Wow, that would make a good hook\", and the writer in you takes over and the rest of the world just fades away. For me, it is a thrill to try to tell you a story in under 4 minutes: a whole, complete story about someone, something, or somewhere. With this album I have tried to give you a look at something you may have seen before but from a new prospective. I hope you enjoy my music as much as I enjoyed making it for you.
