LEA inherited her passion for music from her father who traveled the world, playing trumpet with the 70's soul band, Black Heat, and her mother who taught her to sing from her soul by initiating her, at age 8 into the Jones Family Gospel Singers.
A major turning point came when LEA was given the option of recording her first CD or spending a year as an exchange student in Halle, Germany. She chose to go to Germany. While there, she auditioned for the opportunity to sing at a music conservatory where her gift truly began to blossom. She performed her originals in cafes & clubs, sang with a classical chorus and a jazz ensemble and penned radio friendly tunes with the Brit pop band, Indigo Wild. LEA also took this singular chance to write, score, direct and act in an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s fairy tale, The Happy Prince.
She returned to the US and in 2000, she released her debut CD, “creation” which earned her nominations from the Washington Area Music Association for Best Debut Recording, Best New Artist, Best Contemporary Folk Vocalist – Female. When her next CD, “Looking Forward”hit the streets, LEA was nominated Songwriter of the Year! She has released 6 independently produced recordings so far, one of which is a collaboration demo with German hip-hop group, Jazzafact.
LEA has performed extensively in Germany, England and the United States East Coast. Her music has graced nearly every type of venue imaginable: cafes, clubs, colleges, churches, weddings, funerals, private house concerts and corporate events. She has even performed at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage. She says that her most challenging and rewarding experience has been raising her delightful seven year old daughter.

Great Big World
author: James Bridger
We sae Lea in a concert at Maryland Hall in Annapolis and bought this album there from her. After MANY listens, her words and the arrangements still speak to us. I bought another copy for a friend as I know she will really be impressed by Lea. Lea's voice is excellent and her song writing talent is obvious. I recommend Lea to all of my music loving friends.

Great CD By A Major Talent
author: Bruce
This is a great CD by a major (and as yet underappreciated) talent. LEA's voice is a marvelous thing, but what makes this CD really soar are the first rate songs and arrangements, of many types and styles. I haven't been able to take it out of my changer since I got it.

LEA is amazing. Buy this CD. Her voice, guitar and energy are always aligned, bringing a sense of peace and excitement to any listener. If you are in the DC area and you have never heard LEA then you are missing out.
She's even better live.

An ever-lasting recommendation! Why?
author: Markus Lapke
GREAT BIG WORLD is quite a fine workout of LEA's latest years in being a songwriter. Just before listening: There is this artistic CD cover which is a triple folded gallery of never seen pictures of worlds between imagination, phantasy and real landscapes: And an expressive booklet continuing the intrada of the cover showing the beauty we might ignore in our everydays lifes.
LEA’s authentic voice again in every song: What a pleasure to listen to her singing, whatever the song’s atmo may be: Lea fits in with her voice like an independent instrument not just sounding overdubbing, but joining into the other instruments with a very fine music feeling!
The best of all: whenever I saw and listened to LEA live performing: She is able to focus all instrumental accompaniment only on her guitar.- Fingerpicking, flatpicking, strumming, bending , and whatever is possible on a Martin guitar body and its strings! And here we are: GREAT BIG WORLD’s arrangements are a clear metamorphosis of LEA’s live performing abilities for a studio CD! Guess, I always will need both! LEA live and on CD: an ever lasting recommendation!
