When you think of guitar rock instrumental music, names such as Hank Marvin, the Ventures, and Dick Dale spring to mind. Australian born Leanne Douglas is here to stake her claim in this unique and demanding musical genre. With a tip of the hat to the culture of her homeland, and traditions intrinsic to the style, Leanne will entice you with images of sun, sand, surf, and summer. You will be transported into her world with this debut solo CD release, BLUE HEELER.
Her skills as both guitarist and tunesmith are well represented on this 13
track CD. The 10 original compositions run the gamut from Aboriginal themes (Dreamtime and Walkabout) to more conventional guitar driven fare (Southerly Breeze, and Undertow). Leanne has found the perfect platform from which to shine. From hypnotic, reverb-soaked anthems to colossal guitar riffs -- all are served up with skill, style, inspiration and grace.
BLUE HEELER is rounded out with 3 tunes that are a fitting tribute to her favorite guitar slinger Hank Marvin: "The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt", the infectious "Dance On", and her all time favorite "Apache".
The year 2003 finds Leanne with her first solo release, BLUE HEEELER, fearturing her band, "Leanne Douglas and the Dingos".
Leanne Douglas has a musical gift that won't be denied. Anyone who truly loves the art of guitar playing will surely love her too.

Originals are so enjoyable --- hope there will be more to come? Shadows' tributes are unique too.

Good clean guitar playing - not overcooked and stays with melodies.
author: Mike Clark
13 tracks, 10 originals all done with precision and clarity.
Not one track did I dislike - and that's unusual. It is good
to hear the Marvin influence. There is a 'similarity' across
the original numbers, but that's not unusual. I would really like to hear more from Leanne, especially tunes of
a more serious or soulful nature. Good luck girl!
