Close By - The concept for this album came when playing at a nursing home. The string music was so soothing that one person asked if we could come back at bedtime. This happened again when we played at the San Antonio Country Club that same month. Why not an album that would bring you closer to loved ones especially those that are far away.
This album mixes classical jewels, popular songs and traditional fiddle waltzes in a way that brings soothing memories of times with friends and loved ones. I've listened to my own album at least a hundred times so far and always shed some of the stress of life and gain some peace and joy in connecting to friends when I listen to it.
The liner notes give the original lyrics or quotes from friends inspiring the composers.

* Arranged for violins by Cathy Learoyd
SpiritSand was formed in January, 2002, when Dick and Cathy found they had a musical compatibility that makes it such a pleasure to perform together. Tim, primarily an organist, enhances the violin duo with his exquisite musicianship. Cathy plays an 1832 Georges Panormo violin (on the right in photo); Dick plays a 1990 Jon Peterson violin (on the left in photo); Tim played on a Kawai 7' grand piano for this recording.
