notes
Transplanted Canadian native, ledenhed, started out playing San Francisco Bay area open mikes and coffee houses with nothing but an acoustic guitar and his naked voice. Then he added a beat box, next an electric guitar, and then a sampler. Five years later, the balancing act between technology and tradition continues to be honed in memorable performances throughout the Bay Area. It's all been a part of the evolution of the style he calls, "hi-res, lo-fi, mid-brow psych-pop."
"the small bang!" is his newest release. The title track is a wistful lament for the end of our existence and the end of ego. Mr. Hed is an optimist at heart and is sure the next race of beings to inhabit the earth will learn from our mistakes. According to Mr. Hed, "Every day in history is important, but here in the now we seem to lose perspective. A thousand years are but one pixel of the big screen."
Again teaming up with co-producer/engineer Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto, Pistel Dub Collective), "the small bang!" is an eclectic cross section of moods and themes, and includes other notable guests such as Lynn Farmer (Meat Beat Manifesto), Steven Fox (Donny Parvo), Ben Barnes and Sam Bass (Deadweight), and Patrick Francis.
ledenhed's first cd "central nervous system" won great acclaim from fans and critics alike. The CMJ Report's Colin Helms wrote, "Central Nervous System's gleefully buzzing overload of instrumental eclecticism and melodic smarts proves the one-man-band both an innovative stylist and a solidly traditional pop songwriter."
San Francisco Examiner staff writer, Jane Ganahl, calls "central nervous system," "a debut album of astonishing sophistication and startling textures," selecting it as one of her three local favorite cds of the year.
Local music critic Silke Tudor (SF Weekly) gave the record high praise: "deftly distilling and refining the constructs of pop, backbeat, rock, dance music, and even goth, Central Nervous System is as singular a manifestation of one artist's psyche as I have heard, unprecedented, unsimulated, and unforgettable."

Tsjakkaa!
author: Patrick from SwitzerlandTake best parts of Pink-Floyd, REM and Genesis. Shake it. You've got Ledenhed. I was already worried that psychodelic sound of that quality is past. "Slipping Away" is cult! There's nothing comparable to this CD.
a good drive
author: michellemy favorite song is probably "same" and have listened to it over and over before i move on but overall it's a good album.
good stuff
author: gregA friend recommended ths cd and I am really glad I got it. I was surprised at how different all the songs are, yet how catchy they are too. I would definitely recommend it if you are into artists that produce quality music that doesn't all sound the same.
great music
author: left pawi'm so glad i bought this cd. i've never heard anything like this style before, so the best i can describe it is that it's dancy, it's popish and just plain rockin.. always makes me want to move and groove. i agree, it is amazing - all the sounds and textures - and i highly recommend it.
A Great Album.. Skilled, Cool sounding and Intelligent
author: Gary LevittLedenhed is one of the great underrated artists of our time. This album is packed with melody, cool rhythms, cool sounds and intellegent lyrics, Buy it before he becomes famous, so you can say you were there from the beginning, man.
This album is the GOOD kind of phat!
author: P. DiddyA sonic e-ticket ride. No filler. Pure phat from start to finish. "The Small Bang" is packed with more musical talent than a 1974 Andy Williams special.
I'll let my wallet will do the talking.
author: Jay VirdyI saw this CD pop-up in different categories--it's kinda hard to ignore the face on the cover. After hearing just a few clips (on cheap notebook speakers no less), I'm sold. There's real talent here. Ledenhed will be the first CD I buy on CDBaby.
dig it!
author: curveI strongly recommend this cd. I can listen to it over and over again and each time I hear something new that didn't seem to be there before. Sometimes I find myself waking up in the morning with the lyrics in my head - which has the uncanny ability of reflecting exactly what is going on in my life at the time. When I haven't listened to the cd for a while and I put it back in, I realize I want to listen to it all over again. It's like a good friend.
The Small Bang is nothing short of amazing
author: RomeoJinxThis CD is fantastic. Entrancing beats are woven with audio and vocal textures that grab you in the gut and don't let go. This CD exemplifies the true art of music and it's delicious! The Small Bang is big on variety, groove, creativity and quality. Nice job Ledenhed.
