Album Notes

Josh Lederman y Los Diablos reign high o'er the Irish-Jewish Folk-Punk scene With their latest CD, It's a Long and Lonely Time Until the Train Will Bring You Home, Josh Lederman y Los Diablos elevate themselves from mere Sheik to King of all that is Irish and Jewish, Folk and Punk. From the thundering opening track, "Four in the Morning (or, Lovestreams)," with it's pounding tom toms and imagery reminiscent of Bugs Bunny on his watery descent into the layer of a mad scientist, to the closing country waltz, "It's a Long Walk Home, Darling," Los Diablos cover a vast range of moods while managing to keep their unique personality intact the only way they know how-through irony, melody, and lots of accordion. Add to that Mandolin, Banjo, Fiddle and Rhythm Section, layered beneath Lederman's playful melodies and sorrowful lyrics, and It's a Long and Lonely Time... cruises by like the dirtiest joke you've ever heard without the punchline. Previous releases include, 1996's Serenades from the Gutter and 1999's The Sheik of Araby.

This is superb - play it load in the car - gritty witty and gets better every time you play it.

Great songs, great band, a real great time!!

Hey, forget all those other Irish-Jewish-folk-punk bands out there. These guys blow ‘em all away. Seriously, this band can rock out pub-style or they can put a song in your head that will be there for a while (I’ve been singing Streets of Philadelphia for weeks). Real talented, real smart, real good. This is a band that I want to see live real soon. They sound like a lot of fun!

Servin' up a buffet of flavors in 12 tracks
author: Jenn Cook
This new CD from Los Diablos forces you to feel good and smile even on the rainiest, dreariest winter day in New England. Hell, you might even get up and dance in your kitchen. Full of energy and juicy lyrics, the songs on this new CD span the emotional continuum, from a spicy serving of "The Moosejaw Express" with its killer accordian to a solemn, wintry love ballad in "Stolen Flower." The songs also span an ethnic continuum, from an Eastern European/Klezmer flavor on "Ana Nevsky" to a good ole' Irish drinkin' call-and-response tune on "The Northern Wind." You're gonna' love it.
