I have eagerly been awaiting the chance to buy this cd for THREE YEARS!!!! I had the greatest honour and priviledge of sitting in on one of Ms.Ledon's practice sessions back a few years ago. What I heard literally brought tears to my eyes!! Ms. Ledon has THE most POWERFUL voice I have EVER heard! Her lyrics and music are awe-inspiring,powerful, and HIGHLY HIGHLY original. The music gives the listener a myriad of issues to think about. My favorite songs are Naughty Nina Sunshine, I live a Lie, Mickey and of course- Song4TheSpineless. DEFINITELY worth 5 stars (would give it more if I could ;)!!!

I've just heard this CD and I was impressed by how many feelings are expressed on it. Deborah seems to be a very sentimental and at the same time down to earth person, she is really spilling everything out. My favorites songs are San Vous/Without You and I love to love you. The musical arregements are beautiful. I highly recomended it. I love it

I give this CD 5 stars on the cover alone. On the outside it looks like it'll be a dark album but once I listened to the first song Penelope Catherine Smith I realized that this CD is easy to listen to.It has rock solid vocals that are a real powerhouse and the music has a jazz undertone with a real groove to it.There is a nice hammond piano sound that I like all thru this CD.My personal favorite song is sans vouz/without you but the CD is very consistent and I like all the songs. I recommend it especially if you like jazz and looking for something different

Try this at home - often!!

So the package comes in the mail, and I open it to look at the album. I examine the visual presentation religiously, looking for clues to the auditory content - or at least, to the artist's headspace. Spilling Inside Out by Deborah Ledon is a treat, since the jewlbox cover insert is as intriguing as the musical content on the CD. When Deb (as her friends call her) spills over, her words and notes splash drops of 'reality bites' onto her audience..........................................................................................
It's natural, I guess, to compare a given artist to others whom I know or have heard - simply to pop them into a recognizable niche in my mind. Deb defies this niche-picking, changing her delivery and style from track to track, and this is indeed a good thing. I was sorta getting tired of albums that offer me one notable cut, and then 10 more clones of that in varying keys and time signatures. Ms. Ledon is anything but repetitive, and Spilling Inside Out is a refreshing and honest look at some of the seamier side of life. If pressed to quantify her sound, I would have to state that Deborah Ledon is like Sara MacLaughlin with balls, (sorry Sara). There are no lack of new female Canadian vocal artists - but very few of them have more than superficial lyrical ability; and their collective angst tends to be as shallow as their publicists' ethics. Deb impresses me as a lady with something very powerful to say - and the vocal dynamics to state her case very effectively without excessive ear candy.........................................................................................All 12 tracks are listenable - very listenable. Exceptionally notable is SONG4THESPINELESS, which in my opinion (not very humble either) should be looped and played continually in every teen counselling and reception centre across this country. Deb does not stick with one approach, and moves from mood to different mood as a honeybee hovers from nectar to nectar - sampling the best and distilling it to the listener in generous portions. There are some definite salsa reflections in here from her Cuban heritage; as well as a bit of jazz/blues/rock fusion that will please anyone who enjoys a bit of "after hours' soft jam. I could almost taste the smoky, boozy atmosphere, with an edge. Who of us hasn't met or heard of the elegant bitchery as Deb tells it in PENELOPE CATHERINE SMITH, or NAUGHTY NINA SUNSHINE. Just listen (yeah, this is an album to listen to, again & again) to the contradictions of rhythm between MAGNUM, and LIKE A LATIN
............................................................................................
All the tracks have a compelling "hear me" hook in them, definitely a worthwhile hour and some of pleasure. Musically, the studio crew here is clean and sweet, and the mix is interesting; the band never steps on Deb's powerful voice, but neither are these musicians relegated to the background. Great piece of work Deb! My only complaint is the "no lyrics included"; I love reading the words, and I missed seeing in print the message that Deborah expounds so vibrantly. Maybe next time, please??!!! This one is a must have. Now if I can only steal my copy back from my teenage daughter, I can hear and enjoy Deborah Ledon one more time.
