Lutchi Gayot, Everton Smith, and Damien Reynolds -- otherwise known as the super R&B trio L.E.D. (or led) -- have been through it all from indie deals, living together, and tons of performances, to producing their own projects, and all the other trials and tribulations that come along with having a singing group since first meeting at Miami Southridge Senior High back in 1995. Lutchi's talent as a self-taught professional engineer, and Everton and Damien's self-taught abilities in guitar and piano/keyboard, has ultimately led them to become well-ahead of the game musically before their time.
True-to-form, L.E.D.'s style of music, according to Everton "Kehv" Smith, "...is a fusion of Soul and Popular music from the 70's to today." Damien Reynolds refers to led's style as more like "...Alternative R&B. It's not the average generic R&B you hear on the radio or see in a video. It's our own sound"! All in all, the group's brand of music today takes major elements of R&B, Hip-Hop, and Reggae, mixes it with a swig of Pop and Rock, and combines them in various ways from song to song.
Just as you can feel the depth of their musical ability, one of the most important and defining characteristics of L.E.D.'s music is the songwriting, of which Lutchi, Everton, and Damien take very seriously and stand firm to. There is nothing about L.E.D.'s music that doesn't originate straight from the heart. "Being involved with all phases of the project really distinguishes our music from everyone else's", said Lutchi when talking about how their experience affects their final product, "from songwriting and pre-production to recording and mixing, doing it ourselves has given our music its distinctive flare."
Here, we present you with their first album -- After Midnight, a more straight-R&B project that demonstrates some of their strongest, most deeply soulful music and harmonies. The bulk of After Midnight, which features the original mix of the dancehall-flavored club hit "Baby, Do You Mind", was produced by L.E.D. Some of the tracks on the album were produced either in conjunction with or solo by 88 Keyz of Wolfpak Music Productions, one of which is the ultimate lovemaker's anthem, "Love Slave".
If there was ever an album that was guaranteed to make you move -- fast OR slow, pick up After Midnight by L.E.D. and let that body go to work!
