Lee Lumley is a recording artist who began his musical journey in a small church in Central Georgia at the age of fourteen. It was during this time he began to craft his abilities and begin journeying toward the music business. After high school he toured professionally in the gospel music industry, traveling throughout the southeastern united state. When he came off the road, Lee went into the local church ministry as a minister of music and served in several churches throughout central Georgia.
It was during this time that Lee's passion for songwriting began while listening to artists like Stephen Curtis Chapman, Chris Rice, as well as, secular artists like John Mayer and Jack Johnson. These singer-songwriters had an ability to craft their lyrics in ways that were intriguing and met the listener where they lived. Lee desired to have this ability to touch lives through, as Chris Rice once wrote, "The Other Side of The Radio".
Despite his heartfelt desire to serve God with holiness, Lee struggled with overcoming sin. After years of fighting and failing Lee came to his darkest point in life, suffering through a divorce, job loss, financial collapse and the loss of his sister to cancer, Lee was at the point of decision. It was time to give up or keep fighting. Lee decided to give up. For twenty-four years he had fought sin with no success and so, at the end of himself, he decided that His only hope was to get out of God's way and trust Him for his righteousness.
Over the last two years, God has shown himself faithful even when Lee was experiencing the pain of grief and loneliness, God was there. He has experienced and intimacy that can only be found in brokenness and is now living the victorious life. Lee is now a preacher and author. His blog, SquareWatermelons is written to help men struggling with failure learn how to let God do what they cannot.
Writing songs for over ten years Lee's songs have become increasingly more heartfelt and hopeful. His vocal styling capture the listener and his descriptive lyrics paint vivid images that proclaim the loving nature of God. Always hopeful, always pointing toward heaven, Lee's songs are a call to worship and they chronicle the many different revelations of God's character Lee has discovered over the past few years.
