If you walked into The Lees show for the first time, you would swear from how comfortable they are that they'd been on stage their whole lives. And that's because they have...
The Lees are a young 6-piece Australian band that have been working together for ten years and only have two things in common - they all love good music and they're all from the same family.
Comprised of Parents Steve and Tracey, and their 4 kids, Raechel, Jarod, Faith and Savannah, The Lees aren't concerned with genre. They play songs they've written, songs they've heard and songs they love. And they do all this while holding down a huge variety of instruments on stage.
"Amazing the variety of tunes a group can pump out when they specialize in 10 different instruments... (The Lees) are really two or three bands in one"
- Assistant Editor (Oz Biker Nation #287)
Determined to live their dreams of traveling the world playing music, The Lees have spent 6 years touring Australia, America and Canada, playing at all different types of prestigious festivals, such as the Gympie Music Muster, the Tamworth Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Many well-known artists have asked The Lees to perform alongside them, like Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool), Sara Storer, Lee Kernaghan, Fred Eaglesmith and band Frenzal Rhomb. But some also befriended The Lees. One such example is Bill Chambers, the producer of their last self-titled album, and also their much anticipated, yet to be released new album.
"The Lees' album was the most fun and satisfying project I've ever been involved in. They all sing great and their song writing is superb"
- Bill Chambers (Dead Ringer Band, Kasey Chambers Band)
With six members in this unique band, it is no surprise that their inspirations are drawn from many different styles, ranging from grunge to country, rock to folk, but it is all showcased in this captivating show, that truly catches the natural energy and enthusiasm in one of the hardest working bands in Australia.
Currently with two recently released film clips playing on CMC, and a new album on the way, The Lees show no signs of slowing down. Every year they travel the hard miles, from town to town, setting up, playing shows, winning fans, packing up, moving on, chasing the dream. Their songwriting and passion for music has impressed some of the biggest names in Australian music with fans including Paul Kelly and Kasey Chambers.
"The Lees are my favourite Australian country band!"
- Kasey Chambers
