Lejeune is a Washington, DC quintet dedicated to writing and performing romantic pop rock about the usual: Japanese nightclubs, dorm-room affairs, street violence, and magical thinking. The seasoned ensemble has honed its robust and velvety sound, finding inspiration in '60s torch singers, spaghetti-western soundtracks, and new wave pop.
The band's new record, For Club and Country, will be released in Spring 2007. The album was recorded with Alan Weatherhead (Cracker, Cardigans, Sparklehorse) in late Summer 2006 at Richmond, Virginia's Sound of Music Studios.
Lejeune formed in 2003, and released their self-titled, 8-song debut the following year.

sci-fi groovey
author: AndyThis is lovely futuristic pop. Soothing and sublime with flavors of surfalicous 60's lost in space (danger Will Robins) undertones. Matthew has the most tasteful bigsby vibrato and tone I have had the pleasure of hearing. Moon-Shy City is a definate collage radio hit, and my personal favorite song. Along with a daily helping of Soil and Greens LeJuene is a must have in your Omega Man diet. Truely atomice music for the nuclear age. -Andy
Been listening for a while now...
author: SteveI picked up this CD at a show in DC a while ago and have been listening to it ever since. It is a great and inspiring set of songs! I figured I'd check out if Lejeune had any new releases to offer yet. Unfortunately not yet, but I figured I'd put in my $.02 for a review. Great band, great CD, great songs... anxiously awaiting a follow up!
"In Stereo" is a must have
author: John LI was stuck on a plane flying coast to coast and working on a difficult project using my laptop. My laptop contains well over two and a half hours of music that I cherish. One song in particular continues to echo in my head... "In Stereo". This CD is a great first recording effort. I can't wait to see them live and hear their next work.
The Smiths meet Midnight Oil
author: Ben McCombsGreat jangly-guitar pop. They've managed to channel the essense of The Smiths and Midnight Oil without being derivative or cute. Lejuene have managed to reinvent what made the 80's great without sinking into simple parody, or becoming a novelty act (ala The Killers). Great music.
Nothing short of hypnotic. I'll be listening to this album for a long time!
author: micheal hedgesI heard one track from a friend and had to hear more. After one listen to the album, I'm hooked. Very atmospheric,romantic,and yet very American sounding. Makes me think about urban cowboys and old city scapes.

author: Laura WaiteSounds like a favorite old cd from the 80's. Moon Shy City I put on repeat and just let it play over and over. I notice something new every time. The songwriting is awesome, like thoughts you have had yourself but did not take the time to write down.
