Album Notes

Lemanis have spent the last couple of years in and out of the studio recording our first album, and assembling a large army of superb musicians to back us up both in the studio and on stage. The little orchestra we've found ourselves very proud to be involved with includes a string quartet and horn section, as well as flutes and a female backing singer.

All 4 members of the band are multi-instrumentalists and singers, so we all get to play and sing the bits we're best at.

"A HUGE sound...It sounds great!" - Seth Lakeman

"Complex structure and fluctuating musical patterns that demand your absolute attention" - Ewan McKenzie - Director of Whimsical Records

"The English Polyphonic Spree" - Ray Rose - Director of Eat Records

"When Brian Wilson was searching for the right musos for his 'Smile' project, he could have borrowed Plymouth's Lemanis and got the job done in a week. The neo-psychedelic post-rock ensemble twinkle, strum, strut, parp and harmonise like its a heady 1968, letting their imaginations run wild with not a care in the world about a nation of HMV staff workers struggling to place the band in a suitable genre rack...All wistful and quite beautiful." - Backbone, 24/7 magazine.

Quite possibly the most talented foursome ever to come out of Plymouth, Lemanis have, in the form of 'Shell', created a true musical masterpiece. A breathtaking 13 track affair, bursting with gems, this album really is something special. I was lucky enough to see the bands album launch party at The Hub, where they were backed by a 10 piece orchestra... one word - stunning! With a sound this big, great tunes and talent aplenty, Lemanis have the potential to make it huge

author: MarmiteGirl
With their debut album Lemanis bring you intelligent, grown up music with a trip to the carnival thrown in for good measure. From 'Wesley' with it's modern take on all the 60's tracks that you loved but also endowed with a flavour all it's own to 'Turtles' with it's beautiful harmonies and warmth this album is a feast of audio pleasure.
