Album Notes

Not only is award-winning singer-songwriter Korby Lenker a real good picker, but he also sings with a voice as smooth as Tennessee molasses. Imagine a wittier John Mayer; picture Gillian Welch with a hot-picking edge. This fiercely-acoustic crooner brings his lonesome singing from the Northwestern-most county in the US of A. With the support of Mike Grigoni's world-class dobro picking, Korby blends honest songwriting with the subtle ferocity of traditional string music. An engaging performer, his natural penchant for play has led him to share the stage with Ralph Nader-and his bluegrass band, The Barbed Wire Cutters, has received acclaim from industry trend-setter SPIN magazine. Active as a grassroots enthusiast, Korby has organized string music festivals and has appeared on recordings in Canada and the US-his uncanny ability to connect with his audience is downright remarkable: expect powerful songwriting, tragic ballads, fast picking, and a lot of great singing from this genuinely original voice from the Pacific Northwest.

REVIEWS

author: Andrea
I saw Korby open for Nickel Creek in Redmond this summer and decided to check out this CD because I recognized some of the songs from his performance. I was very impressed with the CD's lyrics, sound, feel, and variety. The songs flow together well and leave you with a good feeling at the end of the CD. I highly recommend it to any bluegrass, folk, and acoustic music fans.
