Album Notes

It's been two years since the release of Lennon's debut album 5:30 Saturday Morning, and a year since she first started work on her second record I Am. After a year of working on a second album that Lennon would be proud of releasing and continued touring, Lennon decided to go back to her roots before the release of I Am. Releasing an acoustic album of piano vocals is hardly Career Suicide for Lennon, but that's the title of her soon to be released acoustic album. Career Suicide is a collection of previously released, never before heard, and rare songs with the only accompaniment to Lennon's voice a piano. Lennon has studied the piano since the young age of 4 and has predominately used this instrument as her main tool in her writing process. This album will show a true example of Lennon's versatile styles of music. Such songs as "Couldn't Breathe" and "Brake of Your Car" from Lennon's previous album 5:30 Saturday Morning, will give the listener a first hand look into these songs before the rock transition took place along with many others from that record. For some, this will mean the simple translation that there are always two sides to every song. Besides songs from 5:30 Saturday Morning, a few rare songs have also been offered to Career Suicide. "Main Gravel Road" is a simple plea for one more chance to an ending situation; while, "Jacob" simplifies the transition of fantasy to reality. So after two years of extensive touring with such acts as The Cult, Alice Cooper, Drowning Pool, Otep, Mushroomhead, as well as many others, Lennon's goal is to release her two latest albums on her own terms and her own dime. "While building a devoted fan base on the road I've talked to the consumers, I've talked to radio, I've been out there and know what people want; most record execs never leave their office" she remarks. From playing small clubs to arenas, over 400 shows later Lennon still sites "that playing live is still her one true love". Lennon finished the end of last year with a headlining tour of the entire United States without tour support or industry help; just another sign of determination which in the end brought her into a lot of contact with radio stations as well as new Lennon fans all offering support towards her forthcoming album. "I just want to play; I'm not trying to prove a point as a female rock artist, I want people to take the music for what it is and nothing else". While Career Suicide may not be the typical Lennon album we would be use to hearing, it definitely shows us a different side to this complex artist. For Lennon, this isn't a change of genre but a chance to show a different side to her music. " I don't see why a song should be limited by the style it is portrayed in. I thought this record would be a good example to show that a song should be recognized for what it is and not how it is produced." This album will surely bring about new Lennon fans while intriguing long time fans. Career suicide is hardly what Lennon is attempting with this acoustic album, but the opening of a door to a side of Lennon's music hardly heard but surely appreciated.

Perfect follow-up and in-between album
author: Serena
This is the best acoustic cd that I own so far. The piano makes the lyrics stand-out and you can understand why Lennon is one of the best underrated artists around. This will probably be in my cd player until her second official album is released.
