New Orleans music veteran Lenny McDaniel has found a musical home at the intimate Bombay Club where he plays five nights a week. On "Two Sides" (independant), his seventh album, he sticks to the rocking R&B he has made his signature, singing passionately about traditional themes in terms we all recognize.
"Information Overload" deals with the intrusion of technology into our lives but other than that, Lenny sings about conflict. The title track talks about it in broad terms - " Might be your sister, might be your brother / Might be the preacher, might be the priest" - while "Because of Who" is about men & women and the difficulty they have staying together.

Reinventing the blues !
author: Laurent
To me Lenny just reinvented the blues with this album. There's more than just blues to Lenny's music. It mixes R&B and soul as well. I thought nothing really new could be added to this genre... boy was I wrong ! Lenny wrote songs that sound familiar but it doesn't take long to realize that it's "new". Absolutely brilliant from A to Z. Another perfect record... great lyrics, great music, great voice... When I think that second rate karaoke singer like Britney Spears sells millions of records and Lenny remains "confidential" that says a lot about the sad state of music. We must cherish artists like Lenny for they keep the true spirit of music alive.

Top notch modern urban blues/R&B

Heard a track on WWOZ NO and was impressed enough to buy the album. I was not disappointed. Every track is first rate - great guitar work throughout. Always on my car CD - gotta have good rockin' music as I'm drivin' along.

I own all of Lenny's previous CD's and happily, this new one continues his tradition of smart lyrics and catchy melodies. Anyone wanting to experience the soulful side of Nawlins music will enjoy this effort.
