"With influences of Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and even Thelonious Monk, she is just one thing...a GREAT pianist!"...Ricky Miller, JazzUSA

It has been said by jazz writer/critic John Gilbert that Lenore Raphael has a "love affair with the piano". Indeed she does.

Lenore Raphael has clearly listened and been influenced by the bebop greats of the bebop era of the 1940's. Influenced by Clifford Brown recordings of tunes like Jordu, Daahoud and Joy Spring, she has also absorbed much of the romanticism of the mainstream '50's, a la Bill Evans.

Lyricism and virtuosity plus originality abound in her style. Always upliftng and joyous, her music is "eminently listenable...the name that first comes to mind is Bill Evans"...G. Stonestreet, In Tune International

As one critic writes.."Every note glows and she is a powerful voice in jazz.

With role models like Bud Powell, Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans, she has assimilated all these styles, but "never slavishly imitates anyone."

Always swinging, always emotional and in touch with the tune, she interprets each tune with the composer's intent.
Being a composer herself, she has a feel for the right color in each song.

Lenore has a busy performance schedule and is selling out at concerts and festivals across the country.
She has been a featured artist at the East Coast Jazz Festival,(Rockville MD.) Panasonic Village Festival (NYC), Cape May Jazz Festival, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Keyport Jazz Festival, Gainesville Jazz & Blues festival, Scottsdale Yamaha Jazz Showcase, IAJE Jazz Showcase (Long Beach, CA) 15th Annual Jazz showcase (New Bern NC)and many more.

Her albums have been on "heavy" playlists on major jazz stations and she has been interviewed on many of them as well.

She is also an advocate for jazz education and has given workshops and performances at high schools and cultural venues. She is an outreach artist of the International Association for Jazz Education, was director of Project JOY, a jazz summer workshop at Montclair State College in New Jersey. This CD goes right to the heart of hip
"Reflections" Lenore Raphael Trio..Swingin' Fox Music

Pat O'Leary/ Sean Conly.. Bassists
Rudy Lawless/Gianpaolo Biagi..Drums
Lenore Raphael is clearly in charge on this disc. Her style is reminiscent of the Bud Powell-Oscar Peterson school, with asides to Mr. Monk now and again, yet she always maintains her originality and fresh ideas always abound. This New York based Pianist has played the top jazz clubs of the world and this CD gives the listener a chance to understand why.
'Zoot Scoot' is pure be-bop at it's best. A nice Bass solo by Pat O'Leary...Raphael was merciless on the 4's and took no prisoners...An original tune that would have pleased the forefathers of bop.
'Eronel' ..a mere mention of Monk, then Raphael was off and running....Nice touch and feel to the
Piano work.
'Ask Me Now'..Another Monk tune ably interpreted by the leader with tasty brush work by Biagi.
'Namely you'..Old Tune with sweet new treatment
somewhat coquettish Piano solo which is touching for reasons that cannot be enumerated adequately. Suffice it to say it is lovely in it's presentation..
'Becky De-Bop'..Monk was alluded to but Powell was evident in every phrase...A happy number joyfully swinging in Lenore Raphael's
inimitable style....Very hip composition..
'If You Could See Me Now"...Tadley Ewing Dameron would have been pleased with this interpretation of his work. Beautiful music.
'Softly, As In A Morning Sunrise'.....Strong, assertive intro by Raphael that evolves into a solo that swings like a trapeze artist. Playing 8 bar exchanges Lenore dominates again.
'Young And Foolish'..Softly mentioning the 'I Hear Music phrase' (The Song Is You) in the beginning, the solo that follows is truly magical in the sense that it is so well constructed and played so soulfully.
Lenore Raphael is known as Lady 88 in jazz circles and for good reason. This recording is a must for every jazz lovers collection.
