Singer-songwriter Sarah Lentz has always loved playing Christmas concerts in churches and clubs. Over the past few years she has compiled these songs, original and her interpretations of old favorites, and had the opportunity this fall with the help of some of her friends and fans to record them on this CD. One listener described the recording as "dark joy", and that describes Sarah's interpretations and performaces of all her music holiday and otherwise. Her deep alto voice has a longing for something other than this world and her chording and arrangements hint of a hope that we'll all soon get there.

I stumbled upon Sarah while at church in NYC recently and got hooked the first time I heard her sing. Her arrangements are amazing and her vocals are even better. O Come O Come is definitely a personal favorite. I really enjoyed seeing her live and I recommend the CD to everyone!

Better than every holiday disc released this year

This disc is a very good holiday disc. It features excellent new arrangements of traditional carols and songs, a terrific cover of Joni Mitchell's River, and a couple of original songs. Sarah Lentz has done her research on the songs on this disc and it shows. Her performances are well executed and have good energy, and a voice of authenticity and sincerity to them. This disc is so much better than the over produced commercial crap compilations out this and every year. Lentz has a concept and vision for how she wishes to present these songs and does a fine, fine job with them. This is a mellow but engaging disc which followed me long after I popped it out of the cd player.
I truly hope she makes another Christmas disc soon.
