Leon Caraco is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer whose main instrument is guitar. All the compositions, vocal and instrumental passages on "Pathways and Portals" were composed and performed by him on acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, harmonica and a wide variety of international percussion instruments. The project is artfully crafted with love and inspiration from sentiments of spirituality and mysticism. The music combines influences from traditions of rock, jazz, folk, blues and world-beat fusion of east and west. Listening to "Pathways and Portals" is like taking an enchanting journey. The musical soundscape is unique, spellbinding, eclectic, poetic and full of surprises. This album defies easy categorization and crosses a variety of musical genres. The songs tend to be long, therefore a two minute preview barely gets you into some of nuances you will discover with extended listening. The Greatest Influence In My Life!
author: Philip P.E.Brown
I met this great man and his wonderful family whilst I was living in Portugal and going to the local English school. Mr. Caraco taught me Art at school, spirituality and humanity in life and the guitar at his house - but above all he was my friend as well as my teacher. I left school and began to make my way in the world and we kept in touch for a while and then drifted...I had only just "found" him again on Google - now he's not going to hear my life story to date and how it was totally shaped by his influence. To his family I wish to express my deepest sorrow and sympathy - you may not remember me but I certainly remember ALL of you - but you also have my thanks, because you shared with so many of us, unselfishly, one of the worlds true teachers and gentleman. I will cherish the artwork and pottery he gave to me even more now and remember the halcion days of learning the Petatonic Blues Scale in the warm Portuguese sun (cold lemonade supplied by his beautiful wife) and the despairing look on his face as he told me about Weather Report and The Beach Boys and I replied with AC/DC and Iron Maiden. Oh! But how he could rip it up - the whole Back in Black album if I remember! I miss you Mr.Caraco but where ever you are, I just want to say "Thank You - you were the Best!" God Bless!

Looking forward to a second CD.
author: Lynette Roberts
Wasn't sure exactly what I was going to find upon purchasing this CD as some of the sample tracks had lengthy introductions that didn't fully let you know what was coming,.... however, I took a 'leap of faith' based upon what I could glean from the samples. Wasn't disappointed. Leon Caraco shows versatility, a sense of the soulfulness that music can convey and a grasp of how jazz/blues played well can make the adrenaline literally pop in your veins. No doubt, I will continue to enjoy further looking within these 'portals' of his musical explorations and take pleasure in going down the 'pathways' he has carved out so very nicely.
