Album Notes

In the three years since their inception, Guitar / Rhythm trio Les Cox (sportifs) have made a point of doing things differently. Drummer Christo Wallers learnt to play Drums while playing live, and by the 3rd gig at medieval poetry venue Morden Tower, it was certain that a new creed had arrived on the scene.

Harking back to a time when 'Indie' was not a major subsidy, Steven Pastel reigned C86 supreme and zines were photocopied rather than emailed, Les Cox (sportifs) are an unpolished, artless, ramshackle and utterly charming insight to all that was great with the Indie scene 20 years ago, yet with both feet stamped firmly in the present.

This isn’t tongue in cheek pop, nor is it neo Regionalism. They tell stories of love, sex, death, politics and compulsion with complete conviction in their message.
