Album Notes

Laura Risk (fiddle) grew up in the thriving San Francisco Scottish fiddle scene, learning her craft from master fiddler Alasdair Fraser. Now living in Montreal, Laura tours extensively and has performed at Celtic Connections (Glasgow), Celtic Colours (Cape Breton), and many of North America's top acoustic music venues, including the Newport, Winnipeg, and Philadelphia Folk Festivals. Laura plays frequently for Scottish Country Dancing across North America, performing with Muriel Johnstone, Susie Petrov, Hanneke Cassel, Dave Wiesler, and of course, Les Joueurs de Bon Accord! A staff musician at Pinewoods Scottish Session ('04, '05, '06) and Scottish music coordinator for Pinewoods English-Scottish Session ('00), Laura is also the co-coordinator of the annual Fiddle and Dance Ceilidh Hall at the New Hampshire Highland Games. Her credits also include numerous CDs - her first solo CD was one of The Boston Globe's 'Top 10 CDs of the Year' - and five years as an Instructor of Fiddling at Wellesley College.

Nicholas Williams (piano) holds a bachelors degree in music from York University in Toronto. Since graduating in 1998, he has immersed himself in the traditional dance music of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, and Quebec, playing Irish flute, piano, and accordion. He has performed for concerts and dances across North America and the U.K., and currently tours with the band Crowfoot. Nicholas has composed music for dance, film, and the concert stage. He has worked as a producer and arranger for artists such as Mathieu Lippe, and David Martel. He recently released his second solo CD, 'The Whispering Woods', which features 14 of his own original compositions.

Eric Breton (percussion) comes from the Eastern Townships of Quebec. A self-taught drummer from the age of 15, Eric later pursued formal studies in classical percussion at UQAM (l'Universite du Quebec a Montreal). He furthered his studies with workshops in Latin percussion with Alain Labrosse and in world music with Luc Boivin. His taste for world beat music has lead him to play a variety of styles from different countries or regions (Africa, Maghreb, Brasil, Haiti, Cuba) Such stylings find their way in the popular music he often accompanies. Well known on the Montreal scene, Eric has recorded with Alain Carron, Michel Cusson, Genevieve Paris and he has performed in concert with such artists as Isabelle Boulay , Luck Mervil, Andre Gagnon, and Lili Fatale. He currently performs with les Gitans de Sarajevo, la Vesse du Loup, Perdu l'Nord, Amalgama, Lousnak, and Sertao.
