Album Notes
Leslie Hunt has a captivating style and tone all her own. While the intensity of her voice calls for immediate attention, it serves as a vehicle for the introspective poetry of her lyrics. Leslie Hunt creates an engrossing soundscape with her voice alone; she utilizes a powerful, full-bodied vocal style reminiscent of Bjork, accenting it with a delicately beautiful high register. Her range is incomparable in modern day pop music, artfully blending the talents of a skilled jazz songstress with the power and intelligence of classic folk artists like Joni Mitchell.

Leslie Hunt began her life in the Chicago area, playing piano and singing before she even began kindergarten. Through the years, she has performed on many stages in many roles, and has been celebrated all through her development as a performer. While many will remember her from her all-too-brief stint on American Idol, the singer has since matured at an alarming rate due to various personal and professional setbacks. What sets Leslie apart is that she straddles two extremes: a witty, bouncy pop artist in brightly colored dresses who is pitted against her darker self, a sensual, piano-crouched exhibitionist.

Leslie performs regularly as a solo artist, enchanting rooms large and small with nothing but a piano and her voice. She also has a full backing band for shows that are less intimate, yet still wholly riveting. Leslie has also signed on as a vocalist for the prog rock band District 97, sharing the spotlight with Chicago Symphony Orchestra cellist Katinka Klein. District 97 is yet another home for Leslie's awe-inducing vocal talents.

Leslie's new record Your Hair Is On Fire (Ellenel Records) is a product of passion and tragedy, helped along by the talents of drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Frank Zappa, Herbie Hancock) and bassist Vail Johnson (Stevie Nicks, Herbie Hancock). This album is a collection of songs ranging from heartbreak to first dates and back. With a belting voice to rival the best torch singers in history, Leslie gracefully and eloquently tackles subjects from losing a loved one to accepting oneself to celebrating life in all its struggles and rewards. Whether it is a cheerful, hook-heavy pop tune about love or a dark and insightful ballad of self-discovery, Leslie Hunt's music is a window into a her soul for any listener willing to look.

Your Hair is on Fire
I love this singer and songwriter. Her melodies, lyrics and vibe are original and fresh. I love the variety of styles from unapologetic pop, to sultry jazz, rock and Joni Mitchellesque folk. Her ballads are sincere, personal, yet lacking sentimentality. Other times she shows her fierce, fun side, with tireless energy and spirit. I want to hear more from her!

This album's got some SOOOOUL!
So I just got the album in the mail today and gave it a listen--Grade A Quality Awesomeness! It's a pretty darn dynamic album all the way around! There seems to be a least one song for everyone on there, no matter what kind of music you like. There's even song or two that sounds like it's out of Nashville—I should know because I grew up not far from there!
Leslie is certainly an outstanding writer/musician and brings quite a bit of complexity to pop music. I don't generally go for most "pop" music, but her songs have so much more depth to them, while appealing to that upbeat, with-it quality so many gravitate towards. So many of the albums I hear, all the tracks start sounding the same and they just don't go anywhere; they don't push the creative envelope for themselves. Well, you don't have to worry about that with what Leslie just put together for us!
There's lots of variety to be found with changing moods, textures, and sounds with very rich instrumentations. The new arrangements/instrumentations of some of her older songs of just her and piano are really done well. You can expect to go from smooth relaxing tunes, to some hip-hop/R&B influences, country flavors, bouts of heavy rock and some reflections on past genres, all in one album. This CD has some SOUL to say the least!
She really does deserve to be one of the top 10 in popular music today; she's got the talent, the personality, the looks and a quality product. Do yourself, and our culture, a favor, and pick up a copy of Leslie Hunt's "Your Hair is on Fire" TODAY!

I love it. I love Leslie Hunt!!

Fabulous CD
This is a must have CD. American Dream Man is such a fun song. The title song Your Hair is On Fire is one of my favorite songs on the album. Don't miss this one.
