Leslie Zak Offers Up A Bowl Filled With Songs We Love Or Soon Learn To Love!
author: Jim Anger- Elementary School Teacher, Folksinger, Children's Son
With Walk Dance Talk Sing, Leslie Zak, a multi-talented and multi-culturally-oriented singer of songs for kids, offers up a bowl full of songs we know or want to know--funny songs, songs from dfferent cultures we discover we really like, whether they are songs from Spanish origin (Que Lindo), the African-sounding Tue Tue, or the Native American oriented Earth Mother, with its drum-driven message "Earth is our mother. We must take care of her." Amid these songs from other cultures, (Leslie sings in many different languages!), we are suddenly treated to a sweet version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. No matter which song is before us, we a treated to Leslie's sweet, kind and gentle, yet strong, voice rising through the melodies and leading us through the songs! I love the mandolin, banjo and drum-driven songs! And I love Leslie's choice for a closing song, Blessing: "We thank the Father for the rain; we thank the Mother for the Earth, and we thank the hand that made the bread." And we thank Leslie for this song-filled bowl of musical joy and power. The album inspires us to appreciate others, no matter the color of skin, and gives us songs that lift us up. Come share in the joy and power of these songs!
