Leslie Zak is a Walking Treasure Trove of Wonderful Children's Music Performed B
author: Jim Anger, elementary school reading-writing teacher, folksinger
It never ceases to amaze me what wonderful music for children and families is so readily avalable through people like the Children's Music Network songstress Leslie Zak--who can sing in many different languages. What a treat for kids to hear songs sung in other tongues but with joy and feeling! Leslie displays her linguistic expertise and her skill in caringly displaying the importance of valuing the cultures of other cultures as she sngs at least two songs beyond the borders of the English language in this album. And Leslie demonstrates an important lesson for us all--that singing can lift us up, and that we should all lift each other up as we journey on our pathway through this life. Her take on the Five Little Monkeys is funny and provides a subtle lesson for us about sharing wth others. Owl Moon is a truly beautiful song that draws us all right in to sing along. Leslie's voice is clear, kind and gentle and has the power yet to rise above others softly and lead us through the songs. Yes, Leslie is a treasure; no wonder this is an award-winning album!
