Phillip Lester's fingerstyle guitar playing is a blend of both classical and contemporary music. His compositions incorporate music of many traditions and styles including Folk, Spanish, Classical, Celtic, Oriental, Jazz, and New Age. Having studied with classical guitarist Christopher Parkening, and acoustic guitarist, Alex De Grassi, Phillip brings an orchestral approach to his solo guitar style.
"Lester's imagination researches all the shades of coloring the acoustic guitar has to offer. Lester demonstrates endless feeling and compassion in his music."
---Barbara Morash: Record Reviews New England Performer Magazine
" ...a very fine solo guitarist. His approach to the guitar is both sensitive and intelligent. He is a talented arranger with a gift for musicianship."
--- Christopher Parkening
Creating melodic landscapes on nylon and steel string acoustic guitar, his solo guitar compositions are characterized by comforting gentle melodies. The influence of Alex deGrassi, Earl Klugh, and George Winston may be heard in his solo acoustic guitar compositions. His recordings have been featured on radio stations from Portland, Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts. He is presently residing in northern New Jersey and performing throughout the NJ/NY/CT area. As good as it gets, folks....

My old friend Phillip Lester's "Dreamsong" CD is at the very top of my all-time favorite solo guitar recordings. It was already obvious way back 25 years ago that Phillip was a superb musician in his heart (where it matters most), who recognized and loved music at its most beautiful and subtle, and who knew how to bring out that beauty and subtlety with his guitar. This CD is proof that the same is every bit just as true today. This is MY kind of guitar music, and it doesn't get any better than this. Also, you'll not meet a nicer and humbler musician. Bravo, Phillip!
