Album Notes

Bay Area singer/songwriters Deborah Levoy and Josh Coleman began collaborating when their paths crossed on a turbulent flight from San Francisco to Nashville. Their debut album, Something Sacred, radiates with crackling energy. Levoy's powerful and emotive voice alternately soothes, soars, and scorches across tracks infused with Coleman's red-hot guitar licks and moody atmospheric effects created by SF studio mastermind, Joel Jaffe. Levoy and Coleman's riveting storytelling in Something Sacred will come as no suprise to audiences more familiar with their solo performances and albums.

The raw and rootsy ballad, "God Watch My Back," which tells the girl-meets-boy story with a suprising and tragic twist, earned Levoy the most votes in the Lilith Fair National Online Talent Search. This honor rides on the tail of Levoy's growing list of national and international songwriting awards from the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Competition, the Unisong International Contest, and the Portland Songwriting Competition, among others. Levoy's award-winning song, "Maria" was featured on NYC's Fast Folk Compilation (known for showcasing rising talent including Shawn Colvin and Suzanne Vega).

When she's not writing, Levoy and her band stay busy with a hectic performance schedule. Levoy has been selected to showcase at EAT'M Conference in Las Vegas and Rockergrl in Seattle. Levoy has frequently performed at premier showcases in Los Angeles, including ASCAP's "Quiet on the Set" and The National Academy of Songwriters' "Acoustic Underground". Levoy has delighted audiences at some of the nation's most prestigious music festivals and listening venues (Great American Music Hall, High Sierra Music Festival, Iron Horse Music Hall, Kerrville Folk Festival).
