ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Aaron has been a fan of music his entire life. It started out by dancing with his 10 records that played on his plastic record player when he was a toddler. Aaron bought his first album at the age of five when other kids were buying toys. In the third grade for the what do you want to be when you grow up assignment Aaron saw himself as a rock and roll star. It was a vision Aaron held until 1996 performing in 3 bands Insanity (hard rock) Agen Wicked (Heavy Metal) and Liquid Bread (blues).
In 1996 Aaron found the love of his life Paula and helped her in raising her 3 sons Bryan, Jeff, and Nathan so much so that they are now Aaron's 3 sons as well. From 1996 through 2006 Aaron did all the things necessary to raise a healthy family. He attended Colorado State University and received a bachelors degree of music. Upon graduation Aaron moved to Albuquerque with Paula and sons and began teaching music in the public schools. In the spring of 2006 CD Aaron observed his CD Gemini was selling in the United States and abroad in the UK with no promotion, combined with a sense of unexplained unhappiness and encouragement from loving wife who was following her dreams drove Aaron to make the decision to follow his dreams of being a well known musician.
Aaron quit his day job and started composing his third self released CD "Space Travel" with 9 original compositions for solo guitar and 1 composition for piano. Aaron had the CD professionally manufactured and is gaining momentum with the release. It is maintaining a steady position on the Inide-Music.com charts on both the instrumental and the experimental charts. The CD is about to be reviewed by Progression Magazine out of Massachusetts, and it is receiving requests from all over the states, Germany, and the UK for radio play. Aaron plays regularly around the state of New Mexico and is currently planning tours of Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico for the spring of 2009. Since Aaron has been performing some notable gigs for him were the Sunport Serenades at the Albuquerque International Sunport, the City of Albuquerque Lunchtime on the Plaza, Duke City Fix Craftacular Spectacular, Grandmas Music, Albuquerque Library lunchtime performance, New Mexico State Fair happy hour stages, The Go Festival in downtown Albuquerque, private parties for the Albuquerque Economic Development Group, A private party for The Turquoise Trail Preservation Society, a Target corporate event in Pueblo, Colorado, and a lunchtime performance on the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo. Aaron also performs for house concerts, weddings, and other unique events.
Aaron and his wife Paula also recently fulfilled a dream they had of opening up artist studios and a gallery. You can find information about the studios in my links section.
Space Travel started out as an individual piece and turned out to be the catalyst for an entrie album. It began with the title track being composed for an out of print EP Puente. This piece stuck with me and forced me to sit down and do some serious composing with it.
I had been a guitar teacher in the Albuquerque Public Schools from 2002 to 2007. I figured out it wasn't my cup of tea when I found myself composing music at staff meetings. I have always know I was a musician. My favorite toy as a toddler was a plastic record player. I bought my first real album with my allowance when I was five. I wanted a guitar when I was seven, during high school it was an afro and a Stratocaster. During my twenties it turned into the blues. And now it is what it is.
So I found a church that I could record in for its acoustics and flare more than its comfort. It is an old adobe church that belongs to a family I know. Inside the church it would easily reach 100+ degrees with a fan blowing. People would come in and check just to make sure I was alive. I recorded a series of improvisations along with Space Travel which was starting to come tohgether really well at this point. I sat down to master it and before I had even finished the first song the computer crashed and I lost everything. I took this as a sign I had not risen to my full capability.
I spent the next few months composing for what follows. From July of 2007 to Feb. 2008 it was a lot of composing and a lot of torn up pieces of paper. Then one cold afternoon I sat down to do an improvisation for prepared guitar. I put alligator clips on the inner four strings of the guitar, tied a string of bells to the headstock, slapped a glass slide on my pinky finger and out came an Alien Abduction. This caused me to look to the night sky and write an album about music involving space. This is that music.
Peace

Beeb Ashcroft
Indie-music.com Review

"Lewis is a talented musician and an inspired guitarist. I love his classical style on the guitar – it's an appealing and timeless approach. I did feel like some of the cuts were unnecessarily long, like the eight minute title track. However, I appreciate his fresh approach and I realize that the soundtrack for space travel is bound to be a little different than the music Earthlings normally spin."

CD Release Party Review

"Aaron Lewis' performance of his aptly titled new CD "Space Travel" was a
visionary journey of sound, taking the listener into unknown regions of
space by way of sounds mysteriously soft and ambient. Traveling through
time his compositions wove single note plucking with full throttle rhythms,
accentuated with offbeat background sounds. We found Aaron Lewis' music to
be an extraordinary and unique experience."
