Album Notes

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

Note: Each song on this album has two tracks. Tracks 1-8 are recorded with Don Lewis vocals and tracks 9-16 are recorded as instrumentals for solo or group singing.

These are songs, dear to my heart, that I heard over and over again growing up in our church back in Dayton, Ohio. How I remember learning to play these songs for church services. These melodies, when sung with conviction, seemed to have the power to transform the hearts and souls of people into a spirit-filled experience that would long be remembered after the service ended.

I also remember during the devotional services, the congregation being lead in singing the old hymns by a Deacon or an old “Mother” of the church. The church would start to resonate with sound and the room would shake as the feet made a wonderful sound on the wooden floor.

Somebody would run over to the piano or to the organ, search for the right key and would start playing along; escalating the spirit to even greater heights. The singing of a hymn was not so much the object of singing, but it was a means to transcend the physical world and fly into a spiritual edifice where there was joy, comfort, peace, and all were welcomed.

These inspired arrangements tell of my life’s experiences while yet sharing with you the gifts of my relationship with God.
