Album Notes

This five-member band has a remarkable chemistry. Their unusual instumentation blends into a unified sound that has not been heard before. Lots of good jamming, some of it high-energy, some of it reflective, and occasionally revealing some very original songwriting. Very much a party band that strives to bring the American Mardi Gras spirit wherever it plays. Based around the tuba and trombone with it's suggestion of the streets of New Orleans, along with the balafon (an African xylophone) bringing to bear the West African influence, guitar (acoustic), giving it a folk flavor, and percussion (drum set and djembe). This band gives free rein to it's jamming proclivities in exploring the sonic and acoustic possibilities of it's instrumentation and personalities. It is an adventuresome group!
