Album Notes

The Long Gone Lonesome Boys are John Milne, a California native, and Patrick Penney, a Georgia peach-pit. But they sound like brothers when they sing their beatiful alt-country tunes together. If you like drinkin' songs, cheatin' songs, Homer and Jetro-style comedy tunes and weepers, you'll love these guys. Backing them up are Pat Keiner (steel/mandolin), Jesse Woelfel (bass) and Leslie Walle-Santos (drummer). Their songwriting has made them finalists at this year's Merlefest Songwriting Competition. Here's what Rennie Sparks (of the Handsome Family) has to say about them:

"Your record is really beautiful. Congratulations. Great to hear that you too are inspired by those magical Louvins."

I need to get out more!

The Long Gone Lonesome Boys play all the time in and around Chicago but I've only recently 'discovered' them. Wow! They are really something. This CD doesn't have a stinker on it. Beautiful music, gorgeous vocals, great lyrics (often hilarious!). A little hardcore, a little Flying Burrito Bros. The LGLB are the best thing I've heard in awhile!
